Instrument Repairs
Jamie's reputation as a drum craftsman is renowned throughout Central Ontario. There truly is no level of damage that is too extensive that he can't bring it back to life. His skill on all West African percussion items dates to over 15 years of experience.
Jamie offers instrument repair for jembes, dununs, n'goni, bongos, ashikos, talking drums, and others. See examples of his work below.
A great deal of effort goes into each drum that is brought in. The entire body of the drum, rather than just the skin, is taken into perspective during each repair.
Aspects of a drum repair can include:
- Skin replacement
- Custom ring rolling and welding
- Neck ring repair
- Reforming and levelling the bearing edge
- All forms of crack repair
- Wood reconditioning
- Fixing or changing ropes
- Custom carvings
Dununs can be skinned according to the traditional ringless method.
The cost of the repair varies depending on what needs to be done to the drum. Please contact Jamie to arrange a pickup/drop off for repair. Common service areas include Orangeville, Brampton, Guelph, Alliston, and Barrie.
